A++

A nearly perfect record. Shows no obvious signs of wear. Should play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback. Covers has no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, scuffs or discolouration. In reality even very few new records reach this grade.

A+

Close to A++ but could have light hairlines. Should play almost perfectly, with almost no imperfections during playback. Covers could have a small imperfection like small scuffs on edges or a slight discolouration from old age but certainly no major signs of wear.

A

Can show signs of wear but was generally handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surface may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't have any major effect on the listening experience. Covers could have small imperfection like small scuffs on edges, slight discolouration or tiny seam splits.

A-

Defects can be more pronounced creating surface noise, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Could have light scratches that will affect the sound. Covers (and/or labels) could have several defects and/or small writing, stickers or sticker residue but in general are decent (not torn or broken).

B+

Should play through without skipping but will have surface noise, light scratches or wear. A cover can have several defects like ring wear, seam splits, torn parts etc. but will generally function well as a cover.

B

Should hopefully play through without skipping but will have significant surface noise, scratches or wear. A cover can have several defects like ring wear, seam splits, torn parts etc. It will hold together but might need some tape or glue to function well.
